Lemons are a widely used citrus fruit that is very aromatic and offers a tangy and tart, sweet and sour flavor. Lemons are used in various culinary recipes to make things like lemon meringue pie, lemon chicken, lemonade, lemon cake and even liqueurs. Lemons are also used to make disinfectants, house cleaners and soaps, potpourri and even deodorizers. Lemons can be preserved, also called pickled lemon, or they are used in marmalade, jellies, candies, pies and even sherbets and shaved ice. Lemons literally have an abundant of beneficial uses during the modern day.

While widely popular and commonly used, most chefs are not aware that lemons are really a hybrid of two different fruits: Mandarins and citrons. Lemons were cultivated thousands of years ago in the Mediterranean, Asia and in Europe before being brought to North America. During the modern day, lemon fruit, lemon juice and even lemon rind are incorporated as key ingredients in many recipes and sauces as well as cocktails. Lemons are also a rich source of vitamin C, and lemons often are used in many different kinds of marinades, salad dressings and much more.
